Nocellara Olives

Nocellara Olives, also known as Castelvetrano olives are small, crunchy olives with a smooth buttery flavour. We leave the pit (stone) in our Nocellara olives as we feel this causes more of the olive flavour to be retained, giving life to a better all round tasting experience. We’ve kept this olive blend incredibly simple, only a small amount of local rapeseed oil is added, alongside a drop of lemon juice, sometimes less is more.

Nocellara Olives Cultivation

These little green olives are primarily grown in Sicily in Italy, this is one of the only olives we stock not from Greece. The olive trees bloom in May but the olives themselves will not be ripe and ready for harvest until October. The Nocellara Olive tree takes about 2-4 years to mature and bear fruit and it’s not uncommon for these olives to only fruit once every two years.

Are Nocellara olives good for you?

Much like the other olives in our range, Nocellara olives do have some serious health benefits including high levels of antioxidants which are known to play a role in preventing heart disease, cancer and other diseases. These olives are also packed full of nutrients and minerals, especially calcium and magnesium. Not only do Nocellara Olives have these health benefits, they are also one of the lowest calorie olives in our entire range, coming in at 155 kcal per 100g.
